About this recipe

I only post recipes that I have tried and verified and are good to my taste — all taste may vary.

Macerating the fruit in the brandy first, before the wine and cider go in, gets real spiced-apple flavor into every glass, not just a garnish.

Ingredients

Method

  1. 01

In a large pitcher, combine the apples, orange slices, brandy, maple syrup and cinnamon sticks. Muddle lightly and let sit 15 minutes.

  2. 02

Add the wine and apple cider. Stir, cover, and refrigerate at least 2 hours, or overnight.

  3. 03

Just before serving, top with sparkling water for a little lift.

  4. 04

Serve over ice, spooning some of the macerated fruit into each glass.

Notes & swaps

  • Macerating the fruit in the brandy first, before the wine and cider go in, gets real spiced-apple flavor into every glass, not just a garnish.
  • No brandy on hand: skip it and macerate the fruit in the maple syrup alone; the sangria will be a little lighter but still good.
