Baked Ravioli
Published Oct 22, 2026 · Updated Oct 22, 2026
About this recipe
Cheese ravioli bake straight from the freezer under beef, marinara, and half-and-half. The extra liquid and a cover let the pasta cook through without a boil first. Italian seasoning goes into the sauce. Mozzarella and Parmesan melt on top. A weeknight pasta dinner, ready in about 1 hour 10 minutes.
Tip: Half-and-half softens the sharp tomato sauce and gives frozen ravioli liquid to cook in. A cover keeps that liquid in the dish.
Ingredients
Method
-
01
Heat the oven to 350°F with a rack in the top third. Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
-
02
Warm the olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the onion until soft, 4 to 5 minutes.
-
03
Add the beef and garlic. Break the beef up and cook until browned, about 8 minutes. Spoon off the extra fat. Season with salt and pepper.
-
04
Stir in the Italian seasoning, the half-and-half, and 2 cups of the marinara. Let it heat through.
-
05
Spread the last cup of marinara in the dish. Lay on half the frozen ravioli, then half the beef sauce and half of each cheese. Repeat with the rest, and finish with cheese.
-
06
Cover the dish with foil. Bake covered for 30 minutes if using fresh (refrigerated) ravioli, or 40 minutes if using frozen ravioli.
-
07
Take off the foil. Broil until the cheese is bubbly and golden, then serve.
Notes & swaps
- The ravioli go in frozen. Do not thaw them, and do not boil them first.
- If the ravioli in the center are still firm, cover the dish and bake a little longer before you broil.
- Ground turkey works in place of the beef.
- Leftovers keep covered in the fridge for 3 days. Reheat them covered in the oven.
