Heat oven to 375°F and butter a 9x13 dish.

Brown sausage in a skillet, breaking it up, 8 minutes. Transfer to a big bowl with the bread.

Melt butter in the same skillet; cook onion and celery 8 minutes, add garlic and herbs 1 minute. Add to the bowl.

Whisk broth, eggs, salt and pepper; pour over and toss until evenly moist.

Spread in the dish, cover with foil and bake 25 minutes; uncover and bake 20 minutes more until crisp on top and 165°F in the center.
