About this recipe

I only post recipes that I have tried and verified and are good to my taste — all taste may vary.

Warm the turkey in a little gravy or butter before it goes on the roll. Cold slices on cold bread taste like leftovers. Warm meat tastes like a sandwich.

Ingredients

Method

  1. 01

Warm the turkey in the gravy or butter over low heat until it is hot, about 5 minutes. Do not boil it dry.

  2. 02

Toast the rolls if you want them crisp. Spread mayonnaise on one side and cranberry sauce on the other.

  3. 03

Salt and pepper the tomato. Pile turkey, lettuce, and tomato on the rolls.

  4. 04

Close the sandwiches and cut them in half. Eat them while the turkey is still warm.

Notes & swaps

  • This is the Thanksgiving football sandwich. Stuffing can go on the roll in place of the lettuce if that is what is left in the pan.
  • The photograph shows a turkey sandwich with cheese. The cheese is optional. The cranberry sauce is the part that makes it the day-after sandwich.
