    Brown pork and beef with onion 10 minutes; add garlic, broth and spices. Simmer 15 minutes until most liquid is gone.

    Stir in mashed potato to bind; season and cool completely.

    Heat oven to 400°F. Line a pie plate with one crust, fill, top with the second crust, crimp and cut vents.

    Brush with egg and bake 15 minutes, then 375°F for 30–35 minutes until deep golden.

    Rest 15 minutes; serve with ketchup or chutney.
